you're so old

so on friday my hott hott hubsy had a birthday so it was my turn to plan a whole day of birthday funzies for him!

here's how it went down.

first, present time!!

i got matt this whole big book about joss whedon and his amazingness because matt seriously can't talk about anyone else right now!

he's always going on and on about buffy the vampire slayer and firefly and dollhouse and the avengers and cabin in the woods so it's fair to say he loved his book times infinity and beyond!

(ps. can we just talk about this ridiculously cute little smirk matt does when he's trying not to smile?? so bleepin' adorable!)

joe's farm grill for breakfast.

(yes, same thing we did on my bday but it's seriously THAT GOOD!)

a trip to half price books which matt totally loves to wander around for-e-ver and look at nerdy sci-fi stuff.

usually i'm in the movie section trying not to whine about how bored i am to anyone who will listen but i was on my best behavior that day since it was matt's birthday and all.

next stop was the movies with a purse crammed with goodies to see prometheus.

then to downtown we went to peruse the comic book and antique stores.

matt riding llama rocking horse = great times!

which got us all super hungry for chinese buffet!

and matt got two fortune cookies in one!

it's like they knew it was his birthday!

then home for a candle blowing and cake eating good time.

and one final surprise present!

yeah, i'm the best wife ever and totally the queen of birthdays!

BOOYAH GRANDMA!

it was a super nerdy and fantastic day!

i'm so glad matt was born and i get to see his joss-whedon-loving face every single day!

perfect day

i don't want to brag or anything, ok i totally do...

i am the luckiest girl in the world!

yesterday i woke up to the cutest boy wishing me happy birthday and telling me that i was going to have a perfect day.

why was it going to be a perfect day?

because i didn't have to choose anything!!!

does this boy know me or what?

i absolutely hate making decisions so he planned an entire day where all i had to do was be along for the ride!

it was heavennnn!

first...presents! obviously.

matt made me a super fun and amazingly cute website thingymado.

and then i got my new best friend, Chandler the Robot!

breakfast at joe's farm grill to get my freeee waffle!

swimming and tanning and playing around at the pool!

where i learned matt can do handstands on water

then off to the movies to see the weirdly funny movie Bernie

where i posed with my very best jack black face.

then buffalo exchange where i find shirts with pockets!

and ikea!

and dinner at flancer's!

then home for deliciousssss pineapple upside down cake!

finishing off the night by catching up on tv shows and having a silly picture-athon!

  

i seriously could not have asked for a better birthday!

matt planned for every single thing i love and the best part is...it continues through the weekend!

who doesn't love when their birthday gets dragged out for a couple more days?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

today is my birthday!

today i turned the ripe old age of 24.

23 was good and all, i mean i did a few cool things and survived and everything but something tells me 24 is gonna be mega super duper incredibly gloriously superbly infinitely better.

don't let me down 24, you're gonna be my year.

Mustache Party

so it was finner finner chicken dinner's first birthday party on saturday and we were lucky enough to be invited!

it was a mustache themed party!

seriously does it get any cuter than that??

answer: no way jose!

i just can't believe this little guy is already one.

i remember holding him when he was just born and now he's all grown up.

now back to the amazing party!

birthday pillows

lately we have been celebrating birthdays like crazy!

every weekend for the past couple months we've had a party to attend. it's insane!

i just wanted to show off the gifts i made for my niece and nephew.

Carissa turned 5 and is loving Hello Kitty right now so her gift was a Hello Kitty pillow.

and McKay turned 9 and is super into Captain America so here's his pillow.

both of them were a big hit!

Carissa told me she slept with her pillow and McKay was such a sweetheart and thanked me a million times for his.

i seriously have the cutest nieces and nephews ever!

and just for your viewing pleasure, Matt and i being nerdy.

fully charged

on saturday we went to the Ringling Brothers circus with Steven and Chelsa as a birthday celebration for Steven.

i had never been to a circus before so i didn't really know what it would be like but now i am totally a fan of circuses!

who knew they were so fun?!

i guess you can't go wrong when you have a bunch of craziness going on.

and fire juggling.

and strong men.

and horses walking on their hind legs.

(who the heck knew horses could do that??)

all my favorite parts were when they did tricks with animals.

the tigers were amazing!

and seriously, what kind of a guy will get into a big cage with 12 tigers surrounding him?

that guy must be insane but he made them do all kinds of cool things!

jump around and lay down and roll over.

and stand up.

and have a little fight with one

(like i said, the man is insane)

and then the last tiger went jumping on his hing legs out of the cage.

it is so crazy what we make animals do for our amusement.

the elephants were probably my favorite.

they're just so cute and big and funny!

shhhh they're sleeping.

so cute when they dance!

and sit like people.

i just couldn't get enough of those elephants!

Matt's favorite were the bouncy guys.

he told me he wants a pair of their shoes so if he ever gets in a fight with someone he can just jump over them.

don't know why he would be getting in a fight or why the person he's fighting would let him put those shoes on before the fight begins but whatever.

i just think it would be hilarious to see someone jumping down the sidewalk with those things as you drive by.

and who doesn't love a good catapolted human fireball?

i'm pretty sure all four of us sat there with our jaws dropped for most of the show and that, my friends, is the sign of a GOOD show!

it was a blast!

i'm totally making Matt take me to another one real soon!
